I was diagnosed and have medicated since I was 48(now 70), and an important lesson I learned from an insightful psychiatrist was that our ADD ancestors were the spy or outlook for their tribe. We are always “on the lookout” and ready for action in any emergency and it usually involves quick judgements, physical movements, and immediate action. It helped explain why I am very good as the leader or as the follower, but fail at anything in between.
