A long time ago a dear friend proclaimed her love for the Kardashians. I was shocked. Puzzled. Disgusted. Recently she brought it up again, and I realized my reaction hurt her. I also realized how messed up my disdain was. So last week I created an artful postcard with all the Kardashian baby names (I can probably name them off the top of my head . . . Mason Dash, Penelope, Psalm, True, Dream, Chicago, Saint, North, Reign, Stormi . . . I think that's it) and sent it to her. She loved it.
Then today she sent me your post.
All I can say is WOW. First, that Kardashian exercise is POWERFUL. Origins. Narratives. Perspective. Wow. And also, the Universe (and in my experience, the Writing Universe) works in such wonderfully mysterious ways. I loved SO YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT RACE, Ijeoma, and, as a fellow PNW writer, I am so appreciative that you're writing about WRITING here. I've already written down quotes from and forwarded several posts. Thank you for your wisdom, vulnerability, and heart. Important, beautiful, truth-telling writing that makes a difference in the world. Thank you.

I did not know I had an opinion about the Kardashians but apparently I do. Plenty of descriptive words come to mind.... :P
