Beautiful post. I love you. Thank you for showing up, speaking out, and having the biggest kindest heart in the world. Excited for your new project and hope you have smooth travels home. GoddessSpeed 💛
As an introduction on a writing class on Sara Rhul’s Prompt for Autonomy https://promptpress.org/ I did on Zoom last night- the moderator had us introduce ourselves- name, pronouns, most used emoji, and favorite emoji.
My most used emoji is the Palestinian flag 🇵🇸 Free Palestine. And favorite emoji is ✨
And I told the story how my boss called me after a big meeting this week and how someone on LinkedIn had screenshotted my comment on November 6 of the demographic breakdown of 52% of white women who voted for the orange rapist and I’d posted “There's a special place in hell for white women.” And I work for a healthcare organization in 36 states with thousands of employees- and this went to HR in Dallas then to legal. And they weren’t sure what to do with it, but decided not to fire me. Partly because I’m one of the best doctors they have. Patients love me. I make the company tons of money. And I laughed because I have said waaaaay more offensive stuff calling for Palestine to be free and to stop the Zionist apartheid Israeli killing machine that we’re funding. But yeah, white women’s feelings trump dead Palestinian children. 🙃
Hearing this as an auDHDer, yes. All the feels, good and bad, can take a lot of energy. Deeply appreciate the work you’re doing out in the world and in taking care of yourself.
I will follow your lead in not naming the conference, but I’m sure many of my CUNY colleagues are there. This is deeply disappointing and sadly on-brand for these gatherings over the past year. Just like Corporations are not people and Nations do not conduct wars, Conferences don’t “do” or “not do” anything. The cowardly leaders and/or compliant participants in these bodies are the ones who have stayed conspicuously silent. Michael Rothberg’s discussion of the Implicated Subject makes it clear that these folks are not just complicit. They may not be perpetrators, but they are most certainly perpetuators.
Thank you for going, especially at such personal cost.
I’m sorry you have not been able to enjoy your (fictionally) swollen Pro-Palestine/Anti-Imperialist suitcase of money. Know that many of us have shared much of your writing this year and your voice is clarion, facts that truly are worth more than a cut of publishing profits. I wish you ease and look forward to learning about your next project.
So glad you decided to go to the conference - someone like you, who is a great role model and has strong opinions and activists ideals, is such an inspirational presence in spaces like that to counteract the negative and inspire those who may also need a beacon and see a brave appearance!
It sucks how one mean spirited person can ruin a day full of wonderful, loving community, but we are all human and that's the way we are wired. Please never hesitate to publicly shame nasty people. All your fans and friends can only imagine anyone saying negative shit to you. We just assume everyone appreciates how lucky we are to have access to your brilliance via social media! lol
But seriously, I want to know when ppl are assholes to you online. I would never do or say anything untoward. (much) I just want know. For reasons. ❤️❤️❤️
(I know that the commenter you talked about did not "ruin your day," and unfortunately, you have lots of experience with trolls and creeps. And I'm sorry that you do.)

Thank you so much for your voice and heart. Your keynote speech was incredible. Free Palestine! I just purchased your book from BookShop.org.
