Hey y'all just letting you know that my regularly scheduled Thursday post of Beyond the Book will be coming out tomorrow morning.
Why? Because it's my younger son's 14 birthday and his only request for the day was to sleep in (and to get an acoustic guitar). So by the time I did all my mom stuff and got him off to school it was too late in the day to get out a post. I've learned that like only half of you will read this if it comes out after 11am.
Side note: man, I can't believe my youngest kid is 14. I've been parenting for over 20 years now. I'm 40 which means I've now officially been pregnant or parenting for more of my life than not. I've literally grown up with these kids.
I was the same age my older son is now when I have birth to him and he just called me the other day because he had an eyelash stuck in his eye and he was hoping I'd somehow be able to fix it over the phone, and oh my gawd how did baby me ever keep this kid (and myself) alive?
Anyways, my older one is living on his own (sorta) and actually likes coming to visit me (I always have snacks) and my younger one is now 6’3”, plays piano all of the time, and occasionally asks me questions like “do I own any deodorant?” To which I reply, “I don't know, do you???”
We've done pretty well so far, our little family.
Happy Birthday to your son! My mom is his birthday twin so I called this morning to wish her a happy birthday. I called her again a half an hour ago because I sliced my thumb on a (not rusty) aluminum can and google was inconclusive about needing a tetanus shot. I’m 33 and have been living at a minimum of 250 miles away from my parents since I was 18. I’ve more than convinced myself that if I become a mother that it is in fact, forever
(Also per my pharmacy if you’ve had a booster within 5 yrs you’re probably fine, after 5 better safe then sorry)
Hilarious!!!! It doesn't get any better than the eyelash. Lol.
