I recently learned how to make vessels from wool fiber and have completely fallen in love with this process called wet felting. I have adhd and falling intensely in love with a new activity scares me - all the old voices that say "you're not gonna stick with it anyway! Why bother getting all the supplies? Next week they''ll lay idle."

Well so what if we want to do something forever for the next 4 months. It's a deep, abiding, intense love and I'd rather have that joy than not try at all. Who knows, it may turn into a practice.

I wish you continued recovery - and more discovery, too.

Clearly Canadian is the faux soda of my childhood! I need to find some immediately, so I can resume my Canadian citizenship dreams... As to your "forever/four months" hobby, when I was a kid, a friend of our family used to offload her sick-of-it projects to me which is why I, in the year of our Lord 2023, still have "Stampin' Up" stamps and ink pads from sometime in the late 80's, round looms for knitting, and...wait for it... one lone LATCH HOOK kit.

Hope this brought a teensy smile to your sore face. I wish you health.

The hobby thing? The: “I’ll do this forever” and then stop after a short time having spent a lot on it, and never touching it again?

I’m not alone! Thanks.

May you recover fast.

Thank you! I've been blue lately and this is bumping me to write that gratitude list.

And shout out to all the grownups getting their youngers to activities they love. That sh*t takes time and love!

I also enjoyed Shrinking way more than I thought I would! Jessica Williams is wonderful. Also, as a Canadian 🇨🇦 this is exactly how becoming a Canadian works (yes I’m sure my parents just drank a lot of Canada 🇨🇦 Dry Ginger Ale in the 60s! 🤔) so allow me to be the first to say WELCOME! 💗

Also in recovery (from surgery on my jaw) now and good lord, the way it can make you disintegrate so fast if you can’t do the handful of things that keep you going. Throwing everything out of balance. But also I’m so happy you were able to get those implants.

I love all of this!! Some weeks felt so long as I waited for a new Shrinking episode to come out. Jessica Williams is the whole dang show and her relationship with each character is magnificent.

Love all these musings! I painted rock mandalas for about 6 months and loved it! That was four years ago but maybe I will do it again.

NINE implants all at once? I've had a total of three all separate surgeries and those experiences were no bueno. You are a superstar in so many ways! Try CocoFloss it really cleans deep down between the teeth. Now I am off to google small linocut kits, I loved linocutting in junior high school art class.

Glad you're starting to feel more yourself again, and that you have Gabriel's daily support-- he is so good at the whole partnering thing!

Thoughts in no particular order:

Clearly Canadian is back? I used to LOVE that stuff. Must procure with all deliberate speed.

Also, that linocut is gorgeous and I'm so not surprised because of your talent for all things visual. You never know--this might be the hobby that sticks! I have managed to maintain interest in my pandemic hobby (crocheting) for 2.5 years which is completely unprecedented for me.

Gabriel sounds like the absolute best husband, and I am so glad. You totally deserve it, in spades.

I can’t imagine how uncomfortable you’ve been! That’s a lot happening in your mouth all at once. Bailey’s Irish cream milkshakes got me through wisdom teeth years ago. Drink all the milkshakes you want!

I enjoyed that book too. But I also agree with someone’s comments below that Marcellus was absolutely the best character.

When I has Covid a few months ago and was feverish and couldn’t sleep, I knew I needed to read something that wasn’t too dark. I kept seeing people talking about this octopus book, so I downloaded Remarkably Bright Creatures even though it seemed like middle-aged dudes weren’t the target demographic. I found myself utterly charmed, and honestly had tears in my eyes as I was finishing it.

I’m so excited to start watching Shrinking! My sister in law just told me I’d love it.

Hope your healing goes well and quickly, and that you enjoy many delicious ice creams. (The classic vanilla ice cream, milk and Hershey’s syrup homemade shake is my all time fave for healing).

You are the best! Thank you so much for taking the time to write and share this. Made my day and reminded me how to be human.

Wow your linocut looks amazing!!! and lol to your swearing to do that forever for the next 4 months. I feel like that's how I was with tarot cards and watercolor xD I think even though I haven't picked those up in a while, I have great memories when I did do those things, and feel like I'll go back to them someday.

I read Remarkably Bright Creatures and Marcellus is the BEST part and I wish there was more of him in the book. I was really tired of the mediocre people and their shenanigans, especially Cameron.

I will now proceed to finding Shrinking to watch and Clearly Canadian to drink. Have you watched Poker Face? It's so good. Natasha Lyonne is a human lie detector and helps solves different murders while she's on the run from a mob moss.

Hope your recovery is going well!
